EDITED VERSION
Trinchera Pass is on BNSF's Twin Peaks sub, and runs between Trinidad, Colorado and Texline, Texas, crossing New Mexico. The line is due to start directional running in July, so we paid a visit before it happens. The line mastly hosts coal trains, with a few  manifests for variety. The tracks climb and curve along the side of the mountains before heading along the plateau to Texas. A senic piece of railroad, I even caught a train in an afternoon thunderstorm, lots of lightning!

Amtrak’s Southwest Chief makes a daily stop here. During the morning and aftermoon peak rush hours, Metrolink turns into a nonstop parade of trains carrying commuters between Los Angeles and Oceanside or Riverside. The traffic is just as heavy for BNSF freigts, with plenty of doublestacks plying these rails. Some trains even railsed a few eyebrows!

Fullerton Station is located on the BNSF San Bernardino Subdivision twenty five miles east of Los Angeles. Fullerton Juction, where Metrolink’s Orang Subdivision splits off, is just east of the platform.
